December 2007 News

Dear Friends

We say it every year, but is it really December already? I get excited at the end of the year – it means that a new year with so much opportunity lies ahead. I am really excited about the year that we have had. I believe that we have continued to grow here at Higher Ground due to the amazing way God has blessed us and I am confident that the coming year will bring exciting developments in our organisation.

We kick off the new year busily with the following camps:

13 – 20 January 2008 is for adults who have an acquired brain injury

26 Jan – 3 February 2008 is for adults who are blind or have a visual impairment

Returning and new campers are invited to join us for a week they will definitely not forget! New activities are being added to the programme and the old favourites will remain. There will be ample time for relaxing, meeting new and interesting people and taking part in exciting activities.

For our camp for adults who are blind or visually impaired two of the many new items on the programme include horse riding and developing and producing a radio drama.

In February we are running our annual camp for the children of Cheshire Homes in Chatsworth. The Victor Daitz Foundation are sponsoring the running of this camp and we thank them for their great generosity.

At the beginning of March we run a leadership camp for the Grade 7 Learners at Ethembeni School in Bothas Hill. The learners have a variety of physical disabilities and we look forward to another successful camp for Ethembeni.

As you can see, we will definitely be busy as 2008 springs upon us! Please spread the word about the two camps in January. If you would like to volunteer please contact me on 072 039 0907 or email for more information. Finally, if you would like to sponsor a camper who cannot afford the camp fees, please let me know. We would so appreciate your help.

Very big thanks to those who have helped us in many ways and specifically to those who have donated finances:

The Victor Daitz Foundation

The D G Murray Trust

Westville Lions Club

Hackers Golf Club

The Paw Paw Foundation
