Are you energetic, compassionate and love people? Volunteers are the back bone of all that we do at Higher Ground and we are always on the look out for people to join us. Volunteers do not need prior experience working with people with disabilities. What they do need is a love for people and a desire to help them have an incredible holiday.
A day of team building, planning and training precede each holiday. This ensures that volunteers are ready for their Higher Ground adventure. Once our participants arrive it is all action. And so much fun! Volunteers will usually stay in the room with participants (though not on all of the holidays) and assist them with getting orientated and with any personal care needs that they may have. During the day it is running of activities like crafts, games and adventure activities. In the evenings it is time for campfire, talent show, game show.
Helping participants to get to know each other and build friendships is another key role for our volunteers. Meeting incredible people with amazing stories is the cherry on the top of the whole experience.
